The New Orleans Saints will begin their 2023 campaign without one of their best offensive players.

The NFL announced a three-game suspension for Kamara for his role in a fight in Las Vegas last year. ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the story.

“Sources: NFL is suspending Saints RB Alvin Kamara 3 games for his role in a fight outside a Las Vegas nightclub in 2022,” Schefter said in a tweet. “Kamara reached a plea agreement in July, and no longer is facing a felony charge for his role in the fight that occurred before the Pro Bowl in February 2022.”

Kamara cut a deal with Las Vegas prosecutors last month over his vicious assault of a man named Darnell Greene that occurred at the Cromwell Hotel and Casino in February 2022. Kamara pleaded “no contest” to misdemeanor breach of peace and was sentenced to 30 hours of community service, a $500 fine, and $105,196.17 to Greene.

In return, prosecutors dropped the felony battery and misdemeanor conspiracy to commit battery charges against Kamara.

“I am happy that we were able to get on the other side of this unfortunate incident, and I wish you the best for the future,” the running back wrote to his victim in a letter as part of the plea deal.

The NFL world was quick to react to the news with Kamara set to miss the home season opener against Tennessee Titans and two road games against the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers as he serves his suspension:
