The New England Patriots brought in Mike Vrabel to be the franchise’s next head coach in the hopes that his partnership with young quarterback Drake Maye will bring the Lombardi Trophy back to New England.
Unfortunately, the pair’s first game together did not go as the team and its fans envisioned, with the Pats losing 20-13 to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Pats’ next game is on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
However, New England’s preparation for Miami has been affected in a major way, as a coach is taking some time away from the team.
“Mike Vrabel says defensive coordinator Terrell Williams will be away from the team for the next few days. He explains the situation at the start of his press conference,” reported Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Always wishing for the best health wise. But man missed a good portion of the offseason and now some of the regular season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Think a ruthless executive decision decision needs to be made here quite frankly. Poor performance week 1 so can’t say he’s on good standing,” someone else added.
“The Pats have been an embarrassment at every level since Tom Brady left,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how New England looks next week.
