The NFL world was stunned on Monday afternoon at the news that Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett had been involved in a single-car crash that sent him to the hospital and destroyed his car after it was flipped several times. On Tuesday morning, we learned what caused the wild accident.
According to league insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Garrett’s accident came as a result of the NFL star swerving to avoid an animal on a wet road.
“Myles Garrett was discharged from the hospital Monday night, per source. More tests coming. The good news is Garrett’s injuries aren’t life-threatening. He swerved to avoid an animal on a wet road and overcorrected. Car flipped multiple times. Could’ve been worse,” Pelissero Tweeted.
The explanation made sense for most NFL fans, who took to social media on Tuesday to express their happiness that both Garrett and his passenger suffered only minor injuries.

While Garrett’s injuries were reportedly minor and not life-threatening, it’s not clear how long Garrett will be sidelined or if he’ll be able to participate in this weekend’s game between the Browns and the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon. Garrett’s agent, however, did say that Garrett “has been alert and responsive.”
