Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has been one of the most dominant players in the entire league this season, and with so many star quarterbacks underperforming or out with injuries, there’s a real chance he could even contend for NFL MVP this year – but he’s not thinking about that.
During a phone interview with Pro Football Talk after the game, Myles Garrett made it very clear that his goal is to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory. Any individual award that would come with that – including the MVP – would just be “the cherries on top.”
“I let my game speak with all that,” Garrett said. “I’m not worried about all the votes and where the awards go. At the end of the day, our goal is to win it all, is to win that Super Bowl. If anything else comes with that, that’s the cherries on top, but looking forward to continuing to try to win this division and bring a championship to Cleveland.”
Garrett said that he hasn’t really even thought about the possibility of winning an award like NFL MVP.
“No,” Garrett said. “I just want to continue to help my team however I can. Make plays when we need them, do my assignment, execute, be there for my guys, support, lead, and have fun. All that goes together and having fun is — there’s no greater fun than winning and I wanna be a key part of that.”
Regardless of whether or not he’s thought about it, if the Browns keep winning, then Garrett will likely be in the MVP conversation.
