The Minnesota Vikings made a major move Tuesday, as they made a move for a quarterback. According to multiple reports, the Vikings have acquired Josh Dobbs in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. This move comes after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles Sunday in the team’s victory over the Green Bay Packers.
The 35-year-old Cousins is expected to be out for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
As for Dobbs, this is the second time he’s been tarded since the start of the season. The Cleveland Browns shipped the veteran to Arizona to begin the season. While he played well at the time in place of Kyler Murray, the Cardinals elected to make a change at the quarterback position, leading to Tuesday’s trade.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cardinals traded Dobbs and a seventh-round pick to the Vikings for a sixth-round draft choice. Schefter reports that conditions are attached to this trade, which can turn the seventh-round pick that Arizona sent to Minnesota into a sixth-round pick.
Dobbs has thrown for nearly 1,600 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games with the Cardinals (1-7 record)/
It’s unclear whether he’ll back up Jaren Hall in Minnesota, or be the starter from now on.
