The Minnesota Vikings want to see exactly what they have in young quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who missed all of his rookie season after suffering a meniscus injury last preseason. Unfortunately, after only two starts, McCarthy is missing more time in his young career, after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Vikings’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football.

The poor injury news for the Vikings isn’t stopping there either. Another key member of Minnesota’s offense will be missing at least four games after landing on the injured reserve, according to one prominent NFL insider.

“Source: Vikings placed RB Aaron Jones on injured reserve due to his hamstring injury. He’s now out a minimum of four weeks,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Has been injured the last few years. Very injury prone. Vikings could have really used him,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“That’s a big loss for Minnesota. Jones was supposed to be a key piece in their offence — now the pressure falls on the backups to step up,” another fan added.

“Aaron Jones can’t carry the whole team anymore. Packers used him up and when the injuries piled up we had to cut him. Vikings never saw the writing on the wall and they’re screwed,” someone else wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Vikings manage after the offensive losses.
