The New England Patriots feel like they’re ready to turn the corner and get back on the path to title contention for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady left the franchise.
The Pats are entering their first season with Mike Vrabel, who played for New England during the Brady/ Belichick era as the franchise’s head coach. Vrabel and Patriots fans believe they have their next great franchise quarterback in the young Drake Maye.
However, they know Maye will need help on the other side of the ball if they want to see their goals achieved, and have worked diligently this offseason on improving the defense.
The Patriots have signed cornerback Carlton Davis, pass rusher Harold Landry, linebacker Robert Spillane, and defensive tackle Milton Williams. Williams recently appeared on the Green Light podcast and had high praise for his new teammate Keion White.
“Just how he carries himself, how he goes about his business, how he works,” Williams said, according to NBCSportsBoston.com. “Similar body type — 6-foot-4, 6-foot-5, 280, 290 pounds. Fast, strong, got everything in the toolbox to really line up wherever, having the versatility to play inside or outside.
“I pride myself on being able to do the same things. I already told him, like, ‘If we end up on the same side, and we’re just going to go rush, it’s going to get nasty.’
“It’s going to get nasty, for sure. I’m definitely excited.”
It’ll be interesting to see how competitive New England is in the AFC East title race with the Buffalo Bills.
