The injury bug has gotten the best of New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Michael Thomas, playing in only three games over the past two seasons. However, Thomas seems to believe that may be a product of the NFL’s medical staff, blasting the league in a now-deleted tweet on Saturday.
Thomas blasted the NFL for its medical staff. His tweet was a reply to a CNN Sports tweet about former Philadelphia Eagles player Chris Maragos winning a $43.5 million lawsuit against his doctors regarding a career-ending injury.
“Right decision. the NFL medical sucks. Cheap, and uneducated their job requires barely any education or curriculum,” said Thomas (H/T John Sigler, Saints Wire) in the now-deleted tweet.
It would be safe to assume that Thomas is talking about the Saints’ medical staff in particular considering he has only played for New Orleans in his six-year NFL career.
Thomas returned for three games this past season after missing the entirety of the 2021-22 season with an ankle injury. He was then diagnosed with another lower leg injury this season, this time a toe injury that ultimately ended his season again.
Constant injuries can certainly be frustrating, and it now seems like Michael Thomas is taking that frustration out on the medical staff of the Saints.
The obvious question is whether this is an issue with the Saints’ medical staff, or is Thomas just susceptible to these kinds of injuries.
We may never know the answer to that question, but Thomas’s NFL future is becoming more and more uncertain considering the amount of time he has spent injured in the past three seasons.
