New York Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux entered a bad place on Twitter on Sunday. The first-round pick made a tweet that drew furor online. A day later, Giants legend Michael Strahan weighed in on the beef Thibodeaux had made with a former San Francisco 49ers star.
Our story began Sunday afternoon while the 49ers got crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Thibodeaux tweeted, “Way this game look we might be better than the 49ers,” implying his Giants were better (Though, interestingly
enough, a week after the G-Men lost big to the Eagles in a similar spot).
Former 49ers offensive lineman Joe Staley was not having any of it. Staley ripped the Giants rookie, calling him a “flash player” and trashed him. “Ur a flash player who gets bodied by average tackles. Don’t let the New York media affect you too much,” Staley tweeted.
Thibodeaux responded to Staley with a claim that he didn’t know who he was. Staley quickly responded, “Enough for ut o respond. Congrats on your 4 sacks this year tho. That’s huge. Unbelievable numbers.”
And several hours later, that response elicited one from the Hall of Famer Strahan.
“You also had a great career and should be proud. Don’t go after a rookie and my kicker. @kayvont had 4 sacks this year. I had 2 1/2 on you you’re rookie year and I was old at that point so don’t forgot that. Let my young guy live!! #DADDY,” Strahan tweeted.
Kayvon later retweeted the defense.
Obviously, it must be nice sometimes to have someone like Michael Strahan in your corner unconditionally.
