Over the past couple of weeks, an interesting narrative has popped up regarding Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Speaking on her podcast in late August, Stafford’s wife Kelly explained that Matthew struggles to connect with younger Rams players, as the 35-year-old quarterback is the oldest player on the Rams roster.
Matthew Stafford cleared things up on Wednesday during his media availability. “No, it’s been great, I love coming to work, I love working with these guys, I do [feel a connection with the younger players]” Stafford said.
It’s apparently already been resolved and is a non-issue in the locker room, as well. “I’m not too worried about it, nobody in that locker room is too worried about it, I promise you that, we’ve completely moved on,” Stafford added.
Stafford’s two seasons with the Rams have been very different. The 2021 season saw him throw for nearly 5,000 yards and tying a career-high with 41 touchdown passes en route to helping the Rams win Super Bowl LVI against the Bengals.
The 2022 season didn’t go quite as well for Stafford and the Rams. He played in just nine games after suffering multiple concussions throughout the season and threw just ten touchdown passes. The Rams went 3-6 in games Stafford played and 5-12 overall. They would have had the sixth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but traded it to Detroit in order to acquire Stafford.
