It’s been a rough week for New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones. Not only did he get absolutely steamrolled by Chandler Jones on an epic “fumble recovery” for the Las Vegas Raiders, but he’s been getting shaded by current teammates and former Patriots players ever since.
Things started poorly when head coach Bill Belichick admitted the reason that the Patriots ran the crazy play that led to their demise was because he didn’t trust that Jones could throw a good Hail Mary pass.
Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown then liked an Instagram post suggesting that the Patriots should call former quarterbacks Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo this upcoming offseason to potentially take Jones’ starting position next year.
Now, former New England receiver Julian Edelman, never one to hold back, shared his thoughts on Jones, saying that he doesn’t like the attitude that the quarterback seems to carry with him.
During an appearance on “Inside The NFL” on Paramount+, Edelman said that he thought Jones should have done more to stop Chandler Jones from scoring on Sunday and then alluded to some other gripes he has about the young signal-caller.
“The season’s on the line,” Edelman said. “You gotta trip him.”
“You know what, he also doesn’t practice the antics after plays and waving off coaches and all these little pissy faces and stuff,” he added. “Like he doesn’t practice that, and he does it. Why can’t you make the tackle? It’s bad.”
Edelman previously said that he felt like Bailey Zappe should be the starter so long as he’s playing well.
Jones hasn’t made a lot of friends in New England so far in his short NFL career. He’ll always be compared to Tom Brady, which doesn’t help, but he’s certainly not helping himself with the way he’s been carrying himself during games and in practice.
