This season saw Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay capture his first-ever Super Bowl championship. It was a historic championship victory for the 36-year-old, which made him the youngest NFL coach to win a Super Bowl.
There were rumors that McVay could be interested in turning to television for a couple of years before returning to coaching, but he soon shot those down.
Now, McVay says that despite the longer than usual season he’s coming off of, he is already eager to come back and coach the Rams next season.
“I finished this season as refreshed and as rejuvenated as I’ve ever been,” McVay told AP News on Wednesday. “I think a large part of that is being around coaches and players that give you that energy and that excitement. I’m really excited about coaching.”
McVay and the Rams received some great news on Wednesday as well. Star defensive tackle Aaron Donald and the team are reportedly working on a new deal, all but putting to bed the rumors of his potential retirement.
The team is also working on a new deal for quarterback Matthew Stafford, who only has one more year left on his contract.
Given the way that their roster is currently constructed, it seems that the Rams will be contenders again next season to potentially compete for back-to-back championships.
