The Los Angeles Chargers and star quarterback Justin Herbert are looking to make their first sustained playoff run after what has felt like an early exit after an early exit. The Chargers have started the 2025 campaign off strongly, sitting at 3-0 after the first three games of the season.
Unfortunately, Herbert and the offense have taken a major blow this week, with one of the quarterback’s top weapons and one of the franchise’s top acquisitions from this past offseason receiving injury news that will likely mean an early end to his year, according to one prominent league insider.
“Tests confirmed that Chargers RB Najee Harris did in fact suffer a season-ending torn Achilles,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the devastating loss on social media.
“Another one bites the dust. Man!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“What the (heck) is up with all these Achilles tendon injuries? This week it was Van de Beek, last season Jayson Tatum, Halliburton, Damian Lillard, a baseball player (a pitcher), and now Najee Harris. Mercy,” one fan added.
“At what point does the NFLPA push to end Turf? We’ve seen too many players suffer specifically Achilles tears on these fields due to the lack of give on the ground. We need to go back to natural grass. Achilles tears are life altering, most RB’s never come back the same after,” somone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Chargers fare without Harris’s production.
