NFL world reacts to Kyler Murray announcement

After tearing his ACL last December, the timetable for Kyler Murray’s return to the football field was a bit rough. And while the Arizona Cardinals quarterback is still sidelined, it appears he could manning the first-team offense in Glendale, sooner rather than later. At least, that’s what first-year head coach Jonathan Gannon hinted to this week.

Even though the 1-5 record may not show it, Josh Dobbs has done an admirable job serving as the team’s starting quarterback. With Murray on the Physically Unable to Perform List, Dobbs has started all six games for Arizona, but at some point, Murray is going to return.

And based on Gannon’s comments, that could come sooner than later. According to NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, Gannon said in a radio interview with Arizona Sports 98.7 that he likes the week that Murray had and the veteran is doing a “good job” in his rehab.

“We’ve got to kind of see here the next couple days, see how tonight goes and tomorrow goes, and again, though, we’re not rushing that,” Gannon said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic.“We’re making sure that he feels good about going out there, but he’s trending in the right direction.”

According to PFT, Gannon hinted “very strongly” that Murray is making enough progress to be designated to return. Once that’s the case, the Cardinals can open up a 21-day practice window for the former No. 1 overall pick. So, he’ll have three weeks to return to practice before he needs to be activated to the 53-man roster.

The NFL world was quick to react to the encouraging update on Murray’s status.
