Former Rams and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was one of the best passers of his generation, winning two league MVPs and playing a big role in a Super Bowl (XXXIV) championship in 2000 for the then-St. Louis Rams. Warner was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
Now, his son, Kade Warner, is also embarking on his own NFL career.
Kade finished up his collegiate career last year at Kansas State after previously transferring from Nebraska before the 2021 season. He recorded 46 receptions for 456 yards and five touchdowns during his final collegiate season. Unfortunately, he was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Despite not being taken in the draft, that didn’t mean that there wasn’t interest from NFL teams in the undrafted free-agent market.Kurt’s connection to the Rams and Cardinals franchises led many to think that Kade would end up in the NFC West. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the team to take a chance on him.
And if anyone should know that being drafted doesn’t determine how your NFL career will turn out, it’s Kade, who is the son of one of the most famous undrafted free agents of all time. But unlike his father, Kade will begin his undrafted free-agent journey as a receiver.
It remains to be seen if Kade can follow in his father’s footsteps, as he has a huge learning curve head. In any event, he’ll have a chance to earn a roster spot and catch passes from either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask.
