This week, Minnesota Vikings had some pretty surprising comments during a recent interview where he made it clear that he prefers local news to national news, giving a pretty harsh assessment of the national news media in the process.
Cousins recently joined reporter Jana Shortal on KARE 11 for an interview and he made it clear. that he has a strong affinity for local news, and a pretty strong aversion to national news, calling it “toxic.”
“I love local news,” Cousins said when at the beginning of the interview.
“It’s just, obviously, most news has gone like this,” he added, making a downward motion with his hand. “It’s just toxic, and I feel like local news is still somewhat pure.”
These words from Cousins generated plenty of reactions on social media.
This comment from Cousins surprised Shortal as she noted that local news hasn’t been too kind in their coverage of Cousins in recent years as he and his teams have routinely left fanbases disappointed. She put asked bluntly: “Why do you like us if we don’t like you?”
Cousins didn’t seem bothered by the bad press from local news, because he still thinks the product is better quality than national news.
“That’s okay, that’s okay,” Cousins said with a smirk. “When I watch it, I just feel like I’m at least getting some good quality news instead of just trying to incite people.”
