Kevin King, who the Green Bay Packers selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, missed the 2022 season after playing with the Packers for four seasons. But his road to recovery and path back to the NFL just hit a significant bump. On Friday, King revealed, in a video he published, that he tore his Achilles in April during a workout.

Since King likely won’t play in 2023, he’ll be a free agent after this season. So King has most likely played his last game with the Packers. And we might not see the former Packer on an NFL roster until 2024 at the earliest. Which is a horrible way for King’s career to have gone after starting with a lot of promise.

King starred with the Washington Huskies before the Packers drafted him in 2017.

In four seasons with the Packers, King started 37 games. In 2019, he recorded a career-high five interceptions. That season, he came away with 15 passes defended and one forced fumble along with 66 tackles and three TFL. That was his best season in the NFL to date. Given his time away from the field now, it’s a harsh reminder that everything can change very quickly.

King’s last NFL game was the NFC Divisional Round matchup between the Packers and the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFL world reacted to the terrible Kevin King news.
