The Browns have major question marks surrounding the quarterback position. Last season’s starter, Deshaun Watson, is questionable to make an appearance for the Browns in 2025 after suffering a setback in his recovery from the Achilles injury that ended his season last year.
While the Browns may still address the position’s needs in the upcoming draft, they’ve also been active this offseason. The Browns traded for former Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett, and they also signed veteran Joe Flacco, who won comeback player of the year with the franchise in 2023.
Pickett spoke over the weekend about what football is about.
“The core values of football at every level stay true — college and professional,” he said at Acrisure Stadium, where he played in college with the Pittsburgh Panthers, per Trib Live. “Pour into your team. Pour into your teammates, care about one another. You’d be surprised when you go out there and see how hard guys play for each other.
“That was the reason that (2021 Pitt) team went as far as we did (winning the ACC championship), just because of how tight we were, a brotherhood. We all cared about each other. We all hung out a ton outside of football. It was just such a blast to go out on Saturday and play with your best friends.
“I hope that’s something I left here in ’21, and I hope it continues and they have a great year this season.”
Pickett also talked about his expectations entering his battle with Flacco for the starting job.
“That’s the plan, man. I’m not going there to hang out. I want to go play. I’m excited, been working hard for it, taking it a day at a time.”
It’ll be interesting to see how the camp battle plays out.
