The Cleveland Browns suffered a major blow this week when running back Nick Chubb went down with an absolutely brutal, season-ending knee injury during Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But it sounds like the team is planning to bring in a familiar face to help replace his production.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns are bringing back former Browns running back Kareem Hunt, signing the veteran back to a one-year deal.
“An official reunion: Former Browns’ RB Kareem Hunt is re-signing a one-year deal with Cleveland worth up to $4 million, per source. Hunt now will try to help fill the void with Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury,” Schefter wrote in a tweet on Wednesday.
Hunt spent the past four seasons with the team where he served primarily as a compliment to Nick Chubb in the running game, but he was not brought back to the team this year after rushing for a career-low 3.8 yards per attempt last year.
Though he met with several teams during the offseason, Hunt remained a free agent without a team. But it looks like he’ll have the chance to prove himself once again with the Browns.
