The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals are in one of the hottest rivalries in the NFL after back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Game.

After the Bengals defeated the Chiefs in 2021, Patrick Mahomes and company bounced back in 2022 and went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

But that hasn’t stopped the Bengals from chirping about the rivalry. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase created headlines last week when he said quarterback Joe Burrow is the best player in the NFL.

He couldn’t resist a particular barb against the Chiefs, adding, “Pat who?” at the end.

Those words got back to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is no stranger to trash talk himself. Speaking on his New Heights podcast, Kelce called Chase’s comments “a little bold.”

“It is what it is, dog,” Kelce said, according to Fox News. “Who doesn’t love some good locker room banter, man? Shoutout to Ja’Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don’t you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes now.

“If you want to talk your [smack], talk your [smack] …  Just better back it up.”

Mahomes, for his part, seemingly responded by the comments when he posted a picture of himself with his two Super Bowl rings and the caption, “That’s who” with two ring emojis.

No love will be lost should these two championship contenders meet in the playoffs again this season.
