The Kansas City Chiefs entered the season looking to get back to the Super Bowl to avenge last season’s embarrassing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Unfortunately for Kansas City and its fans, things have not gone according to plan to open the year.

The Chiefs’ defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday dropped the team to 5-4 on the season, still on the outside looking in of the AFC Playoff picture. Unfortunately for Kansas City, the franchise used to have a chance to compete for the Super Bowl every year thanks to the presence of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

However, a shocking statistic from Sunday’s game may show that Mahomes is already on the decline. Mahones only completed 44.1% of his passes on the day, the first time in his career that he has come in under 50%.

Fans reacted to the shocking statistic on social media.

“People tell me with a straight face that he’s the best qb in the league,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“The nfl will sweep this performance under the rug,” someone else added.

“Killed his phony mvp case. Can’t lose to the only good teams you play,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs are able to get things back on track this season.
