The New York Jets informed four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers that his services were no longer needed in the Big Apple and brought in former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields as his replacement. Ironically, Rodgers landed with the Steelers and is off to a 3-1 start on the season.

Things aren’t going quite so well for Fields and the Jets. New York is 0-4 on the season, and while Fields has flashed his athleticism, he has struggled to deliver in obvious passing situations. Now, Fields is sharing a remarkably out-of-touch message and downplaying the importance of what’s been transpiring on the gridiron on Sundays.

“We’re blessed, at the end of the day. You look at the bigger picture in life, we’re getting paid well to play a child’s sport,” Fields told media members in a press conference.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Somebody needs to help with the questions. He is very average at QB, but he has zero drive. Horrible answers. Draft another QB time,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“We all know you guys are blessed making 10’s of million for playing a sport. TELL US HOW YOU PLAN TO WIN GAMES AND PRETEND TO CARE,” someone else added.

“I don’t know, i’ve never thought of football as a child’s sport or a kid’s game. It’s a brutal, violent sport, and while kids may play it (badly), once they get into high school it gets serious. it is an unbelievably huge industry. What they get paid shows that,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how much longer of a leash the Jets give Fields.
