The New York Jets brought in quarterback Justin Fields and former Detroit Lions defensive quarterback as the franchise’s new head coach to get things turned around after two dissapointing seasons of the Aaron Rodgers experience.
Unfortunately, the Jets are 0-4 through the first four weeks of the season. You wouldn’t blame Fields if his response to the adversity was to put all of his focus on getting New York back on track. However, instead, the struggling pass thrower is talking about how there are things bigger than football.
“We’re blessed, at the end of the day. You look at the bigger picture in life, we’re getting paid well to play a child’s sport,” Fields said in a mid-week press conference.
Fans reacted to Fields’ shocking message on social media.
“Fields is reminding fans and players alike that football, despite its intensity, is a privilege,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“You don’t care bro you make more money in a year than the average person would make in like 120 years you don’t care bro Stop the bs,” someone else added.
“Justin Fields has an abundance of raw talent that hasn’t been tapped into yet. With some better pass protection and a legit WR2, this young man will put the Jets into the playoffs as soon as next year,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Fields can salvage the season for the Jets.
