New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields (7) got sacked in back-to-back plays in the fourth quarter before exiting the game, Sunday, September 14, 2025, in East Rutherford.

The New York Jets have a new quarterback this season in Justin Fields, who is looking to prove to the league that he belongs as a starting quarterback. Unfortunately for Fields and the Jets, who are hoping that Fields can help erase the memory of two dissapointing seasons with Aaron Rodgers at the helm of the offense, the Jets are off to a 0-2 start after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills to start the year.

As if that weren’t enough, the Jets now have to push through without Fields for the time being, according to one prominent NFL insider.

Jets QB Justin Fields is in concussion protocol,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter on Monday morning.

Fans reacted to the brutal break for Fields, who has an extensive injury history, on social media.

“Yeah he’s better off doing that as I’m sorry to say his career as a starter is over. QB is hard,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Should be in beans protocol based on his performance yesterday,” someone else added.

“I’m sure he picked it up during the game but this makes it seem like he just got it waking up,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if this is the beginning of the end for Fields time as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
