Justin Fields dazzled the NFL world with his record-breaking performance against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. On Sunday, the Chicago Bears quarterback had one heck of an encore.
The Bears once again came up short in their comeback efforts against the Detroit Lions. Just as it happened against Miami, the game came down to the final drive. Chicago couldn’t execute but at least the demise was significantly less controversial than it was in Week 10. Though, maybe just as irritating. But with that said, Fields was electric once again.
Fields threw for two touchdowns and 167 passing yards. He flashed dominance again n the ground as he rushed for 147 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
In doing so, the Bears quarterback achieved a few new feats.
The NFL’s Research Twitter account tweeted, “Justin Fields is the third QB since the 1970 merger with 5 consecutive games of 60+ rush yards (Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson).” The account wasn’t done tweeting historical factoids either:
The account tweeted, “Justin Fields has the most rushing yards by a QB over any 5-game span (Weeks 6-10, 2022) in the Super Bowl era. He broke Lamar Jackson’s record of 473 rush yards from Weeks 6-11. He broke Lamar Jackson’s record of 473 rush yards from Weeks 6-11, 2019.”
Fields’ impressive rushing scores also grabbed attention in a big way.
The account tweeted, “Justin Fields is the only QB in the Super Bowl era with multiple rushing touchdowns of 60+ yards in the same season.”
Quite the day for the Bears quarterback, a sentence we’ve read a lot lately. One that Chicago fans have enjoyed reading, for sure. The NFL world was wowed again by Fields’ spectacular performance.
