Most NFL fans were today years old when they found out like the rest of us that former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman once dated hall-of-fame wide receiver Jerry Rice’s daughter Jaqui.
Apparently, the pair dated in high school and Edelman made a major confession regarding the relationship that probably won’t please the elder Rice.
He said he use to sneak over to see his daughter and would put on Rice’s Super Bowl rings. Edelman said this on The Kelce’s brother’s “New Heights” podcast about his relationship with the Rice family.
“She took me to her prom. I did wear those Super Bowl rings. Sorry Jer,” Edelman said. “I used to go in his office all the time. He was never home. So, I’d be over there playing with Super Bowl balls. I saw jerseys.”
Edelman, who grew up in the Bay Area, said that he was intimated by Rice growing up because of who he was at the time.
“The first time I met him, the dude came out yoked up, six-packed up with his chain on, dreads that are starting back here,” Edelman said, pointing to the back of his head. “He was old Jerry by then. Oakland Jerry. He intimidated the **** out of me. Which I understand, I have a daughter. I’m a father of one.”
But that was then, this is now and Rice and Edelman seem to be close these days, they even attended the Kentucky Derby together a few years ago.
But you have to wonder how Rice will feel about him after hearing this story.
