Despite spending almost a week in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his father due to a health scare, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs will play in Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jacobs said that his “pops” wanted him to play and will be watching from his hospital bed Saturday. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, on Tuesday, Jacobs’s six-year-old son Braxton found his grandfather Marty in pain and called 911. Marty was then rushed to the hospital where he had open heart surgery Wednesday and remains in intensive care.
Good, quick thinking by the youngster more than likely saved his grandfather’s life. Before Week 18, Jacobs is the NFL’s leading rusher with 1608 yards, ahead of former Alabama teammate Derrick Henry by 179 yards. Despite the Raiders’ record, Jacobs could end the season as the NFL’s leading rusher.
The last time the Raiders and Chiefs faced each other, the Chiefs squeaked out a 30-29 victory when the Raiders missed on a two-point conversion. Jacobs rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown in that loss but he can make up for it Saturday if the Raiders can pull off the upset.
A win for the Raiders would potentially knock the Chiefs out of the No. 1 seed in the AFC, depending on how the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals do on Sunday.
