The relationship between the Indianapolis Colts and star running back Jonathan Taylor deteriorated pretty quickly this offseason amidst contract negotiations.

Things appeared to be heading in a positive direction when it was announced that Taylor would return to the team following his absence this week and travel with the team for their road trip to Philadelphia.

However, a new report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport tells us everything we need to know about where things stand between the RB and the NFL team.

The [Colts] have given star RB Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade, and conversations to find potential landing spots are ongoing,” shared Rapoport. “Several GMs and talent evaluators were informed earlier today that Taylor is available.”

the 2021 First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler is coming off a season in which he played 11 games and garnered 861 rushing yards and four touchdowns due to injuries that ended his year early. However, in the prior year, he led the league with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 rushing scores.

The market for Taylor is going to be interesting. Sure he’s coming off an injury, but the 24-year-old remains in his prime and could potentially remake a team’s offense immediately.

News that the Colts were allowing Taylor to look for potential trade partners certainly garnered some reactions from the NFL world.

It’s been an interesting offseason for NFL running backs and how they’ve been treated by their teams. We’ll see if the relationship can be salvaged or if this is the beginning of the end for Taylor in Indy.
