Last month, the Baltimore Ravens made a huge move to bolster their offense by signing veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson. But ever since the team added the veteran wide receiver to the active roster, he has been quite a bit limited, playing just 11 snaps in his Ravens debut while also catching one pass.
Although it’s been a little disappointing for fans expecting DeSean Jackson to make a big impact immediately, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed that Jackson is still getting up to speed after his injury and expects him to be a little more involved in the offense as soon as the team’s next game.
“It wasn’t supposed to be real bad, but it just hasn’t quite come back as fast as you want it to,” Harbaugh said in his Monday press conference, according to Pro Football Talk. “So, he’s working really hard to bring it back.”
Harbaugh offered one reason why Jackson’s recovery could be taking a little longer than expected: his age.
“He’s a little older, [so] it probably does take a little bit more time — I hope he doesn’t get mad at me for saying that — but he’s working at it. He’s going to be back, hopefully this week. We’ll see.”
The Ravens have a bye this week and will return to action against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. It sounds like Harbaugh expects Jackson to be on the field.
