During Sunday afternoon’s AFC Championship game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Ravens were hit with a very costly penalty in the fourth quarter of the game when rookie star wide receiver Zay Flowers was flagged for taunting after hauling in a massive reception that set up the Ravens in the red zone. But Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow doesn’t seem to think that there should have been a flag thrown.
After the Ravens were given the costly penalty that took them outside of the red zone, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback shared a pretty controversial opinion on social media, suggesting that the NFL should not throw flags for taunting and players should be permitted to talk all of the trash they want when they’re on the field.
“Let the guys taunt,” Burrow said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Obviously, this turned out to be quite a controversial opinion from the superstar quarterback, and it led to a lot of discussion on social media as a result.
Joe Burrow Bengals villain arc next season gonna hit like absolute crack https://t.co/dYTr6LBqY1

It’s unlikely that the NFL will ever make this change, but it’s clear that Burrow would favor a league where everyone can speak their mind and not be penalized for it.
