Sunday afternoon’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly wasn’t the best or most dominant performance from the Cincinnati Bengals this season. The team trailed the last-place Steelers for much of the game before eventually coming out on top despite a concussion to star running back Joe Mixon and with star receiver Ja’Marr Chase out with an injury.
But even though it wasn’t a lopsided victory and it didn’t come easy, Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow revealed after the game that he thoroughly enjoyed the victory. He even has it among his favorite wins in a Bengals uniform.
“One of my favorite wins since I’ve been here,” Joe Burrow said.
While there have certainly been some bigger and more dominant wins throughout his Bengals career, Burrow went on to explain what made this victory particularly special.
“A lot of adversity,” Burrow said. ‘AFC North game. Bad weather, cold, windy. We fought through. We found a way to win.”
Burrow finished the game 24-of-39 through the air for 355 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. With Mixon and Chase out, Burrow had to find other weapons, throwing three touchdown passes to backup running back Samaje Perine.
“Samaje’s just — one, obviously, he’s a great player,” Burrow said. “He steps up whenever his opportunity presents itself. And two, he’s one of those locker room guys that everybody talks about. Great in the locker room. Great guy to talk to. Culture builder. He’s fun to play with.”
