Like everyone in Cincinnati these days, Joe Burrow has caught a case of Reds fever. The Bengals’ star quarterback gave a fun nod to a fellow phenom in Cincy that has plenty talking now.
Burrow made a post on his personal Instagram account. The post featured a picture of the Pro Bowl quarterback in the batter’s box at Great American Ballpark. Burrow was dressed in a Reds jersey and batting gloves and was seen taking a swing. The post’s caption read: “Joey De La Cruz,” a nod to rookie sensation Elly De La Cruz.
Burrow’s post drew responses from the sports world. Some of them were absolutely hilarious.
The Cincinnati Reds commented on the post, saying, “Goated caption.”
Reds great Joey Votto followed by saying, “Good thing you didn’t use my last name. That would be awkward.”
But Donovan Mitchell might have had the funniest response of all. “You ain’t hit any out!” he said with laughing emojis.
Joey B probably won’t be quitting his day job anytime soon. Still, it’s incredibly cool to see sports crossovers, especially with how much Cincinnati loves baseball. He’s also not the only Bengal to show respect to the new phenom De La Cruz. Star wide receiver Tee Higgins tweeted recently that he wanted his hands on a jersey.
