American president Joe Biden appears ready to break tradition by not sitting for an interview during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVII broadcast.
Biden is a longtime fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, who are set to play Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Friday, “I don’t have anything to preview on Sunday.”
Fox News, which would conduct the interview as part of the official broadcast, hasn’t officially commented on a potential interview either way. Deadline notes ideological differences between the Biden Administration and Fox News could be at work.
The outlet noted that “during Tucker Carlson’s show on Tuesday, coming just before Biden’s State of the Union address, the chyron gave an update reading, ‘Mannequin President Has Left The White House.'”
That difference, however, hasn’t stopped Biden from running ads on the network.
“Meanwhile, a pro-Joe Biden ad, timed for release after his State of the Union address, was spotted during Fox News’ The Five, which draws more viewers than any other cable news show,” Deadline wrote. “The spot was from Future Forward USA Action, one of the largest independent spending groups to back Biden in the 2020 presidential race, with donors to an affiliated PAC including hedge fund managing director Stephen Mandel and Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz.”
The NFL world was quick to react to the news:
Only time will tell if Biden will appear on the Super Bowl broadcast.
