When the Indianapolis Colts won on Sunday, it was only a matter of time. Team owner Jim Irsay was not going to let everyone outside the Colts organization go unchecked after everything he heard about Jeff Saturday.
The team dealt with a week of (probably justified) criticism after they hired former center Jeff Saturday to be their interim head coach. Saturday, who had never coached a game above the high school level, had worked on the team as a consultant. Saturday had no prior pro or college coaching experience, which drew a lot of criticism. They even dealt with it all the way up to kickoff on Sunday.
Funnily enough, the Colts won Saturday’s coaching debut against the Las Vegas Raiders in come-from-behind fashion. After all that, Irsay sounded off on all the critics on Twitter:
Irsay wrote, “All you critics…you criticize all of us in the NFL for losing…When we make moves to Win…you act so righteous! ‘Who you Crappin’…’ Just Win, Baby!!”
The Colts faced tanking accusations earlier this week after they hired Saturday. Tanking is not an unfamiliar thing in the NFL. But Irsay didn’t forget about those accusations when writing that tweet. It’s fair to say that this was an inevitable reaction. Also, it was a cheeky end to the tweet considering the Colts played the Raiders.
The NFL world reacted to the Irsay tweet after it was made.
