There were a lot of sweaty, stinky men roaming around Canton, Ohio after Thursday night’s NFL preseason opener- the Hall of Fame Game between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
First, the game featured the lights going out at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium for several minutes to begin the fourth quarter (which also led to Aaron Rodgers darkness retreat jokes).
And after the game, it turns out that players weren’t able to shower.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the showers were not working for either team after the game.
Florio added, “As one source explained it to PFT, Browns players were told the shower issue was related to the electrical issue that took out the lighting. Some Browns washed up in the cold tubs.”
Perhaps we’ll see the no-shower chaos on HBO’s Hard Knocks (covering the Jets) in the coming weeks.
As for the game, the home-state Browns outscored the Jets 14-0 in the second half to rally for a 21-16 comeback victory (Rodgers did not play, so his Jets debut will have to wait).
The other 30 NFL teams will begin their preseason next week, and hopefully they’ll be able to take postgame showers before leaving the stadium.
