Whether you like him or not, you can always expect Jerry Jones to be brutally honest about his football team. The Dallas Cowboys owner can make some uncomfortable comments and oftentimes place unrealistic expectations on his football players. He also says thing publicly that a lot of people in the organization would probably rather stay in-house.

As we’ve come to find out, Jones isn’t above critiquing Dak Prescott or saying what he expects out of his starting quarterback. On Wednesday, the Cowboys owner spoke to a group of reporters and was asked about his expectations for Prescott in 2023. Prescott is coming off a season in which he threw a career-high 15 interceptions. He’s received a ton of flak, so Jones delivering a brutal assessment isn’t exactly a new phenomenon for the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who is constantly under the microscope.

“What I expect is not the unexpected,” Jones said via The Atheltic’s Jon Machota on Wednesday. “What last year represented relative to turnovers was unexpected…I expect to see what we expect from Dak, which is don’t turn the ball over, be protective of the ball. When I think of Dak, that’s the first thing that comes to my mind. That’s what he does good.”

Jones has certainly made his expectations for Prescott quite clear. It remains to be seen if Prescott can get his turnover numbers down from a season ago.
