After he was arrested three weeks ago for domestic abuse, the district attorney in Colorado’s Arapahoe County has decided to drop the charges against Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy was held overnight for second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer. The Broncos wideout was arrested after he had a dispute with the mother of his 1-year-old child, but she says Jeudy never touched or threatened her.
According to reports, the reason Jeudy was arrested was because of what they thought at the time was property damage. The laws in Colorado require that he’d be arrested. However, Sheriff Tyler Brown said nothing really happened.
“It solely involved property and there was no damage to property,” he said.
Jeudy, 23, was a first-round draft choice of the Broncos back in 2020 but injured his ankle, causing him to miss most of last season. He is expected to make a full recovery and be back this season.
The NFL has been under fire for years about how it has handled situations like this, especially in a case that involved former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who was seen on video abusing his wife. The NFL was only going to make Rice sit out a few games until a video of the incident surfaced.
While Jeudy has been cleared and no charges will be brought against him, the NFL may not be done with its investigation.
