Earlier this season, the Indianapolis Colts named Jeff Saturday the team’s interim head coach in a very surprising and highly controversial move. The move drew plenty of criticism from many sources with some current NFL coaches even questioning the decision. By all accounts, the criticism was proven correct as his time with the team was an absolute disaster. But he’s still in the running to become the team’s full-time head coach, and if he gets the position he promises things will be different.
According to Indianapolis Colts insider Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star, Jeff Saturday revealed that he felt obligated to keep things the same when he took over as head coach since the team was in the middle of the season and he was just an interim head coach. But if he gets the full-time job, he said the team can expect “significant change.”
“If I get this job, there’s going to be significant change,” Saturday said on Monday according to Erickson. “The way I do things is not the way it’s been done.”
Saturday was the head coach of the team for its final eight games. Of those eight games, Saturday notched only one victory against the Las Vegas Raiders before losing the final seven games of the season.
