The Washington Commanders were the surprise of the 2024 season, when rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels won offensive rookie of the year and led the Commanders to the NFC Championship game. Unfortunately, the Commanders weren’t able to build on that this season.

Daniels dealt with injuries throughout the season, and the team struggled immensely on both sides of the ball, all of which resulted in the Commanders going 5-12 on the season and missing the playoffs.

As much as the Commanders would like Daniels to focus solely on turning things around in D.C., the young quarterback will be playing for another team in2026, according to one prominent insider around the league.

“It was announced at a launch event in LA tonight for the new Fanatics Studios business that Jayden Daniels will participate in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic and also captain a team, alongside Tom Brady and a 3rd QB captain to be unveiled soon. Event is March 21 in Saudi Arabia,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported early on Wednesday morning.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“When you worry more about the young guy getting hurt than the older one,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“JD5 already captaining with TB12 before year 2 even starts That’s the kind of respect & global spotlight we love to see. Hail to the future!” another fan added cheekily.

“When was last time Jayden played for NFL team that’s paying him?” one fan wanted to know.

It’ll be interesting to see how successful the event in Saudi Arabia is.
