We all know by now the story of how Jason and Travis Kelce will be facing each other in Super Bowl LVII and how difficult it will be for both their parents, Donna and Ed.
They both will be attending the game Sunday, but won’t be together. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell invited both Kelce parents to sit with him in his private suite. And while Donna accepted, Ed did not.
“I’m a blue-collar grunt. I’m sitting in the stands,” Ed Kelce said.
Donna Kelce had a different take.
“I’ll be up there. It’ll be fun,” Donna Kelce told NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo this past week. “I think it’s a good idea. Otherwise, I won’t be able to see the game, because of all the media. I don’t think they’d leave me alone, so I’m just gonna escape and watch the game in private.”
In order not to seem to be biased toward either son, Mrs. Kelce’s outfit for Sunday will be split down the middle. Equal parts Chiefs and Eagles.
The Kelce family aren’t the only parents who have had their children face each other. The Mannings know a little something about that. Both Peyton and Eli Manning have faced each other on the field before, but not in a Super Bowl.
The biggest mystery still remains: who will their parents greet first after the game? The winner or the loser?
