The Cincinnati Bengals almost certainly won’t achieve their Super Bowl ambitions without a healthy Joe Burrow at quarterback.

Burrow suffered what the team called a calf strain during training camp on a non-contact play outside the pocket. Head coach Zac Taylor said that Burrow would miss “several weeks.”

But Burrow returned to practice on Tuesday, and he looked good, according to Bengals franchise wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

“He looked good. I didn’t see hobbling, I didn’t see much. He doesn’t look like he’s having any problems,” Chase said, according to Pro Football Talk. “When Joe’s out there, it’s a little more dialed in. He’s stayed positive about the whole situation. It’s all about the health and how he feels. That’s the most important thing this year. We want to get him back, make sure he’s healthy, 100 percent healthy.”

Chase had previously said he didn’t want to see Burrow back on the field until he was 100 percent healthy, even if that meant missing time during the regular season.

By all indications, Burrow will start for the Bengals in the season opener when the team heads north to face the Cleveland Browns in an early AFC North divisional game.

The Bengals won the last meeting between the two teams, 23-10, last December.
