Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts won’t express any concern about potentially feeling targeted against the New York Giants.
Hurts comes into the NFC Divisional Round with an injured shoulder that held him out of action for some time in December. He played stirringly before the injury, throwing for 3,701 yards with 22 passing touchdowns and 760 rushing yards with 13 rushing touchdowns. So, as he goes, so do the Eagles. Considering his shoulder could be vulnerable, it’s worth wondering if Giants defenders will target him and hit him hard. Despite those worries, Hurts is carrying on.
Via ESPN’s Tim McManus, Hurts said, “‘It’s football. I’ve got a bounty on me every week I go out there on the field. So, I’m going to go out there and just play my game and whatever happens, happens.”
Hurts is right that he has a bounty on him every week, in essence. He was sacked 38 times this season, up from the 26 sacks he took a season ago. So he knows what it’s like to be hit, especially since he takes off and runs a lot as well.
That being said, Hurts seems to embrace it. When you’re at that level, and when you know you’re going to take hits, you almost have to.
Despite Kayvon Thibodeaux, Dexter Lawrence, and others, don’t expect Jalen Hurts to back away from the Giants on Saturday night.
