The Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves in the same division as the NFL’s top offense, the Indianapolis Colts, but they’ve managed to stay within striking distance of the AFC South’s number one spot thanks to the leadership and performance of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Unfortunately for Lawrence and also the Jags defense, he’s going to have to make due without one of his top targets for the time being, as wide receiver/ cornerback standout Travis Hunter was recently placed on the injured reserve, which will hold him out for a minimum of four weeks.
The Jags are gearing up to face a different division rival in the Houston Texans this weekend, but now one prominent insider around the league has confirmed that things are going to be even more difficult for Lawrence, as one more of his top weapons is going to be unavailable for the contest.
“Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. will miss Sunday’s game vs. the Texans due to his high ankle sprain,” Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Friday.
Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.
“BTJ will be one of the biggest names on the market this off-season,” one fan predicted on Twitter.
“Feel like this is as likely to be a 3 (or more) week absence as it is to be a 1 week absence,” someone else added.
“Injury obviously not good, but sitting might do him some good,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Lawrence responds to being so shorthanded in such an important game.
