Former NFL star J.J. Watt made the difficult decision to retire from the NFL this offseason after 12 years in the NFL.
Four months later, he appears to be set on his decision to stay retired.
He discussed his retirement with SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday, saying that he doesn’t envy those workout out already to prepare for the upcoming season.
“I’m so glad I don’t have to be out there chasing those guys around and catch them,” said Watt via Pro Football Talk. “I haven’t run since the final game of the season, so that San Francisco game was the last time that I’ve run. I still lift, but cardio has kind of taken a bit of a backseat.”
He then added that he is “at peace” with his decision.
“I’m very at peace with how it all went down and how it all ended, and I don’t think I’m going to have any because I physically won’t be able to. I’m a guy who if I’m going to do it, I’m going to go out there to try and be the absolute best. I know now that I’m not training that way.”
If this wasn’t enough convincing for NFL fans hoping for J.J. Watt to return to the NFL, he put out a hilarious tweet discussing his plans for addressing further rumors of an NFL return.
“I look forward to answering this question many more times over the next 6-8 months I’m sure. From the golf course with a drink in my hand. It will still be a no.”
