Over the weekend, Indianapolis Colts rookie star quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder that will keep him out for multiple weeks – as long as a month. And it sounds like the Colts are already making plans to add depth to the position after the injury.
According to a report from league insider Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Indianapolis Colts are bringing in a group of veteran quarterbacks for a workout in an effort to look for someone to add depth to the roster.
“With Anthony Richardson sidelined, sources say the #Colts worked out a group of veteran QBs, including Kellen Mond, Ian Book, Holton Ahlers, and Trace McSorley,” Garafolo said in a post on X.
Kellen Mond is a former Texas A&M star, Ian Book played his college football with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Holton Ahlers played for Eastern Carolina, and trace McSorley played college ball with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
With Richardson out, the Colts will turn to veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew as the starter for the team, but the Colts will clearly be looking to add a little bit of depth to the quarterback position while Richardson is sidelined for the next several weeks.
We’ll have to see who the team ultimately decides to sign.
