The Indianapolis Colts made a lot of changes during the offseason and they seem intent on stocking up their running back corps as much as possible.
While the franchise will certainly be leaning on Jonathan Taylor to anchor their running game this season, they’ve signed former Baltimore Ravens running back Ty’Son Williams just two weeks after his previous franchise let him go.
Williams joins another recent running back addition in Phillip Lindsay, who the Colts signed last week.
The 25-year-old was part of a committee of running backs for the Ravens last year. While he held the starting job for a while, he eventually lost that role to Latavius Murray and never quite regained the trust of the team. After a college career that included stints with North Carolina, South Carolina, and BYU, he had signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
In his NFL career, Williams has 185 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, nine receptions, and 84 receiving yards.
The Colts have made a lot of big moves this offseason to retool an offense that let them down in the final game of the season, which they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars and subsequently missed the playoffs. They traded quarterback Carson Wentz and then replaced him with Matt Ryan. They also brought in Nick Foles to bolster the QB ranks. And they made some important signings on defense as well, including Stephon Gilmore.
