After his rookie season, which saw him earn Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud seemed primed to ascend to the level of one of the NFL’s top talents. However, things have been a little shaky.
There was optimism that the young quarterback would return to form this year after undergoing somewhat of a sophomore slump, but Monday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks dropped Houston to 2-4 this season.
Now, Stroud and the Texans have received some horrible injury news that will make a turnaround even more difficult to come by.
“Texans struggling offense absorbs another blow as Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a concussion when his head hit the turf Monday night in loss to #Seahawks,” reported Texans insider Aaron Wilson on Tuesday.
Wilson then followed up with more brutal news for Houston.
“On a short week before #49ers game, #Texans offense could be missing both Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring).”
Fans reacted to the brutal developments on social media.
“I’m rooting for the colts to win from our division. This a goddamn shame, that our WR1 has been here since like 2020 bruh and he has yet to have ANY HELP alongside of him . Not to mention we dropped Bobby for an even worse Bobby ??! No o line improvements no nothing!” one Texans fan wrote on Twitter.
“Please trade him to the giants. He’s being wasted in Houston,” someone else wrote about Collins.
“Tough break for Houston ,, Nico Collins has been a key part of that offense. Hopefully it’s a short recovery; concussions can be tricky,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Houston’s season unfolds from here.
