Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent nearly two decades with the Green Bay Packers, but that relationship seemed to go a little bit sour this offseason after Rodgers demanded a trade from the team. But it sounds like the Packers are still very much appreciative of what he accomplished during his career with the Packers.

During a recent address to Packers shareholders on Monday afternoon, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy sent a clear message to Aaron Rodgers, announcing that the team fully intends to honor Rodgers and retire his number “at the appropriate time.”

“We want to thank him for all he did during his remarkable 18-year career. He will be first-ballot Hall of Famer, and we will bring him back and retire his number at the appropriate time.” “We think it was the right time to move on. We do think that Jordan Love is ready who sat three years behind a Hall of Fame quarterback and learned an awful lot.”

“We also think it’s a great opportunity for Aaron, obviously, going to New York. It will help him from a career standpoint not just as a player but when his career ends. And obviously, the Jets have a talented team.”

He may not be ending his career with the Packers, but it’s clear he has earned his place in Green Bay history.
