Rumors have swirled around the New York Giants attempting to trade former Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry for the majority of the NFL offseason. It appears finally that the team is nearing a resolution that may be beneficial for both sides.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen spoke about the situation with Bradberry on Wednesday and did not mince words.
“I thought there would be more interest,” Schoen told Zach Rosenburg of NJ.com.
Schoen also told WFAN on Wednesday afternoon that the team should have a resolution with Bradberry by the end of the week. Considering how little interest he has gotten in the trade market to this point, this is Schoen likely hinting at the team releasing Bradberry.

Bradberry is only 28 and had an excellent 2021 season, starting 16 games while recording four interceptions.
The lack of interest in the trade market is likely a case of other teams realizing the Giants’ cap situation and knowing they will have no choice but to release him.
The Giants made two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, which should certainly help them next season, but that also plays a large role in releasing Bradberry to clear cap space. Considering they only have $5.9 million in available cap space, it is crucial for the team to make some difficult decisions.
Bradberry should be among the top free agents available and will likely have no trouble finding a new home if he is ultimately released by the Giants later this week.
