The New York Giants are right around the corner from their first full season of the post-Daniel Jones experience. New York made it clear that veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who is entering his first season with the franchise, would be the starting quarterback to open the season.

New York then disappointed fans by listing veteran Jameis Winston as the second-string quarterback, despite having drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

Dart was impressive in the preseason, but made it clear that he was willing to wait for his number to be called.

“I feel like whenever my number is called, I’m gonna go out there, I’m gonna play my game and I’m gonna ball,” Dart said.

“That’s just my mindset any time I touch the field. Obviously, Russ is the starter, and he’s going to do amazing. He’s had such a great camp and has played at an elite level. My job is just to be the best teammate and be ready whenever it is. I’m excited for Russ and what he’s going to do this year.”

“Russ has completely earned that role,” he continued. “I just want to be the best teammate, and I want this team to win, so whatever my role is for that to happen, I’m going to do that to the best of my ability.”

However, Dart’s opportunity may be coming sooner than he initially anticipated.

“Jaxson Dart listed as QB2 on Giants depth chart for Week 1. Jameis Winston listed as QB3,” reported Underdog NFL.

It’ll be interesting to see if Dart goes on to take the starting job from Wilson this season.
